About HS2 News

With cross-party political support, construction of a new railway line between London and the West Midlands looks set to go ahead with potentially far-reaching benefits for the UK economy - but not without significant disruption to those people living along the route alignment.

With the first phase of the project expected to cost more than £15bn, designing and building the new railway will require an army of suppliers and will generate opportunities for companies large and small.

HS2 News aims to provide impartial, detailed coverage of the project as development proceeds. We hope it will prove a useful resource that will make essential information easy to access - without spending hours trawling the internet - as well as bringing you the very latest news and HS2 developments.

The site also includes news reports on High Speed 1, formerly known as the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. We have archive material stretching back to 2003 and continue to cover HS1 developments as Britain's first high speed railway squares up to European competition and operators prepare to launch new direct train services to the Netherlands, Germany and beyond.

It's a subscription site

To help cover the costs of maintaining and improving HS2 News we ask for an annual subscription - currently £39 for individuals - from those who are likely to benefit from the information the site provides. In return, we make a commitment to bring you the latest news about High Speed 2 as it happens and do everything in our power to provide you with accurate information that you can count on. All information on this website can be traced to primary sources - there are plenty of free sites that provide digests or copy extracts from newspapers or other websites but this is not one of them. Transport Briefing subscribers automatically have full access to HS2 News.
